Hosting
The website is served from a self-managed server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, located in a data centre in Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hetzner. No content delivery network is involved.
What happens when you open a page
To deliver a page, your browser necessarily transmits its IP address. The web server uses it only to send the response and to determine the country of origin. The country lookup uses a database on the server itself; the IP address is not passed on to anyone. It is then discarded and is not stored in log files or anywhere else.
The web server log contains only:
- time of the request
- country (two-letter country code)
- requested address without parameters, status code and amount of data transferred
- referrer (the previously visited page, if the browser sends it)
- browser identifier (user agent)
This information does not allow conclusions about individual persons. Log files are deleted automatically after 14 days. An aggregated statistic is derived from them (page views per day, country, page and referring website) that no longer contains individual requests.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in operating the website securely and in anonymous audience statistics.
