A liqueur needs three things: high-proof alcohol, sweetness and water. How much of each depends on how strong and how sweet it should be. It is sweetened with invert sugar syrup, which dissolves in any amount without crystallising.

Method
Set alcohol content, amount and sweetness in the calculator below; the ingredient list follows along.
Put the syrup and the alcohol into a measuring jug and stir well.
Top up with water to the mark of the desired amount, stir, and top up to the mark once more.
Pour into clean bottles and store sealed.
Notes
Contains 187.5 ml pure alcohol and 188 g sugar.
| Sugar in the liqueur | Invert sugar syrup | Water (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 80 ml | 476 ml | |
| 120 ml | 436 ml | |
| 160 ml | 396 ml | |
| 199 ml | 357 ml | |
| 239 ml | 317 ml |
Assumptions
Syrup from 700 g sugar and 300 ml water: about 740 ml with roughly 0.94 g sugar per ml.
The alcohol depends only on the desired strength: 750 ml at 25% vol needs 187.5 ml of pure alcohol, so 187.5 ÷ 0.965 ≈ 194 ml of the 96.5% spirit. The syrup depends only on the sweetness, and the water makes up the rest.
